What is Carbon Dioxide Capture Technology for Coal Fired Boiler about?
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has been studying CO2 capture from the flue gas of coal fired boiler using the advanced CO2 capture technology and abundant experiences of Flue gas Desulfurization plant (FGD). MHI and Kansai Electric Company (KEPCO) possess the advanced flue gas CO2 capture process. The process has the advanced hindered amine so called "KS-1 solvent" and special proprietary equipment. MHI also has our own advanced FGD technology which has more than 160 commercial experiences.The issue to capture CO2 from coal fired boilers is the treatment of impurities before introducing flue gases into CO2 capture plant. The pilot plant was constructed in MHI Hiroshima R&D center to demonstrate CO2 capture from coal fired flue gas and carry out various tests for the treatment of impurities. This paper presents the above test results for practical and economical CO2 capture from coal fired boilers.
