This study evaluated the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in treating acute vocal fold injuries in rats. Twenty-four rats had unilateral vocal fold injuries and were divided into two groups - one treated with PRP and the other with a saline placebo. Histopathological examination after 21 days found higher levels of growth factors associated with wound healing in the PRP group, suggesting PRP may help accelerate healing and prevent scar formation from vocal fold injuries.
