It analyzes crash data from Queensland between 2001-2005 which found that while motorcycle crashes involving young riders increased 83%, moped crashes increased 208% and riders aged 17-24 were involved in 38% of moped crashes compared to 25% of motorcycle crashes. The severity of moped and motorcycle crashes was found to be similar.
