What is Post-Orthodontic Retention Knowledge Survey about?
This study aimed to explore the level of knowledge and expectations that people deciding on future orthodontic treatment have regarding post-treatment retention. A questionnaire was given to 227 people before their first orthodontic appointment. The results found that about half knew retention is used after treatment and some beliefs were contradictory. Most felt stability was important and preferred bonded retainers. Sociocultural factors influenced knowledge and expectations. While stability is a priority
