What is Classification of Joints Explained about?
There are three classes of joints based on how the bones are united: synovial joints, fibrous joints, and cartilaginous joints. Synovial joints allow the most movement and include six types - plane, hinge, saddle, condyloid, ball and socket, and pivot joints - which permit different degrees of movement around axes. Fibrous joints unite bones with fibrous tissue, allowing limited movement. Cartilaginous joints unite bones with cartilage and can be temporary or more permanent unions.
