Legal Perspectives on the Palestine Conflict by ccivanr.h is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The movement of Zionism formed in the late 19th century among European Jews seeking to escape discrimination. Zionists sought to establish a Jewish state in Palestine, the site of a former Hebrew kingdom. Most Eastern European Jews lived under severe legal restrictions in places like Russia and Poland. After some decades of relaxed restrictions, conditions for Jews worsened again under Tsar Alexander III in 1881. Zionism emerged to provide a homeland for Jews facing increasing persecution in Europe.
