What is The Caterpillar Man about?

Out of a Spanish prison but not out of trouble, tenacious, ex-Police Sergeant William Cutter is persuaded to take a case that he doesn't want, and can't possibly solve. There is a serial rapist terrorising the steel town of Port Talbot. In the dead of night, he invades the homes of lone women. He binds his victims and then mutilates their faces, but lets them live, to live with what he has done to them. The public and press call him the Port Talbot Slasher, behind closed doors the police have dubbed him The Chair Rapist. All apt names though one seldom used truly speaks of what he is - The Caterpillar Man.There have been five attacks and sixteen months since the last and the trail has gone cold - the police no nearer to catching him than when he began his reign of terror three and a half years ago.His last victim, Olivia Holland has been waiting for Cutter to return home.Holland, a scarred and haunted recluse wants to stop ‘The Slasher’ before he can strike again. She yearns for closure, burns for revenge, and believes the ruthless Cutter can get it for her.The small-town private investigator is down on his luck and broke. Is the case a lifeline? Or is it a white whale that will swal
