What is Analysis of Picasso about?
Pablo Picasso painted The Old Guitarist in 1903 after the suicide of his friend Casagemas. During this period, Picasso often depicted the downtrodden and miseries of the poor in his works. The Old Guitarist shows a distorted style reminiscent of El Greco, with the upper torso of the guitarist reclining while the bottom half sits cross-legged. Beneath the surface, a ghostly image of a seated woman in distress can also be seen.
