What is Life Is Fine: A Poem by Langston Hughes about?

Langston Hughes describes two instances where he contemplated suicide but was ultimately unable to go through with it. In the first instance, he jumps into a river to drown himself but the water is too cold, causing him to resurface. In the second, he considers jumping from a tall building but is too high up. Realizing he is still alive, Hughes concludes that while life may be difficult at times, he will continue living as that is why he was born.
