What is Poynton TR2015 PUDI PP about?

The paper discusses perceptual uniformity in digital image representation, emphasizing that a small change in component values should produce a consistent perceptible change in light output across the value range. It highlights the importance of nonlinear mappings in digital imaging to effectively utilize bits per pixel while addressing common misconceptions about luminance and color representation. The authors aim to clarify the complexities of image coding systems and their adherence to perceptual uniform
