This study investigated the role of food additives in recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) using patch testing. 24 RAS patients and 22 healthy controls underwent patch testing for 23 common food additives. The results found that 87.5% of RAS patients had positive patch test reactions to at least one allergen, significantly higher than the 13.6% of controls.
