5G NR architecture consists of: 1) NG-RAN which includes gNBs and ng-eNBs interconnected via the Xn interface and connected to the 5GC via NG interfaces. 2) 5GC which includes functions like AMF, SMF, UPF connected via control and user plane. 3) Reference points define the connections between network functions like AMF, UDM, PCF and between the access network and 5GC.
