What is Multi-Isotope Study of Pre-Columbian Panama about?

This study uses isotopic analysis of human remains from seven archaeological sites in Panama to investigate pre-Columbian patterns of diet and mobility. Isotopic evidence of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and strontium were analyzed. The results did not support the initial hypotheses that coastal populations relied more on marine foods or that maize consumption increased over time. Some evidence of non-local individuals was found, suggesting movement of people between sites.
