The Amalaoulaou complex in Mali records the evolution of a Neoproterozoic intra-oceanic arc over 90-130 million years. Early metagabbros formed at lower crustal depths from 793 Ma magmas tapping a depleted mantle source. These rocks were later metamorphosed into garnet-granulites during crustal thickening. Younger quartz-gabbros formed at mid-arc depths from 660-700 Ma hydrous volcanic magmas.
