Louis Pasteur was born in 1822 in France and went to school in Arbois. After graduating he received degrees from the Royal College of Besancon. His research led to pasteurization and naming the science of bacteriology. He developed vaccines for diseases in chickens and animals, then devoted his life to vaccines for people against cholera, diphtheria, tuberculosis and smallpox.
