The calciner is an additional combustion chamber located between the rotary kiln and cyclone preheater in plants using precalcining technology. It provides heat to drive the endothermic calcination reaction of limestone in the kiln feed. Heat is generated by a dedicated firing system in the calciner and from the hot exhaust gas of the rotary kiln.
