About this document

COPD Muscle Dysfunction: miR-1 and SRF Axis by Riski Dohartua is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This study investigated changes in microRNA expression and serum response factor (SRF) activity in the quadriceps muscles of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) compared to healthy controls. The expression of the myocardin-related transcription factors (MRTFs) that activate SRF, and of miR-1 which is an SRF target, were both reduced in the quadriceps of COPD patients. miR-1 expression was associated with measures of lung function, muscle mass, exercise capacity, and smoking history.
