This systematic review evaluates the efficacy of high-energy extracorporeal shock-wave therapy (ESWT) for treating chronic calcific tendinitis of the shoulder. The analysis of 28 randomized controlled trials indicates that high-energy ESWT significantly reduces pain and improves shoulder function compared to placebo, while its effectiveness for noncalcific tendinitis remains inconclusive.
