This study compared weight changes in 154 children who underwent adenotonsillectomy (T&A) to 182 children in a control group over 24 months. Children who underwent T&A gained significantly more weight than controls at every interval. At 24 months, the T&A group gained an average of 2.6 kg more than controls. Obese children who underwent T&A gained significantly more weight than obese controls at 12, 18, and 24 months, with a difference of 4.2 kg at 24 months.
