In Myanmar on February 2nd, 2014, 39 people died in a bus accident in Sagaing Region. The bus fell off a bridge on its way from Monywa to Mandalay. It was carrying passengers from Monywa to Mandalay. The accident occurred near Wetlet village in Sagaing Region. Rescue teams tried to help the injured passengers but many died at the scene of the accident or on the way to the hospital. An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
