This study investigated the effects of Korean red ginseng on obesity and related disorders in a mouse model of postmenopausal women (ovariectomized mice). The study found that ovariectomized mice gained more weight and body fat when fed a high fat diet compared to non-ovariectomized mice. However, ovariectomized mice that were given ginseng alongside the high fat diet had significantly less weight gain, body fat accumulation, and adipocyte hypertrophy compared to ovariectomized mice not given ginseng.
