A Piper PA46 aircraft crashed near Yoakum, Texas on January 17, 2023 killing 4 people and seriously injuring 1. The plane departed from Memphis, Tennessee and was approaching the Yoakum airport when it turned east, descended and crashed into a field 1.5 miles from the runway. A preliminary investigation found the pilot and copilot were fatally injured while 2 passengers were killed and 1 seriously hurt. The crash is under investigation by the NTSB and FAA to determine the cause.
