The document briefly describes the history of the modern Olympic Games. They began in 1894 when Baron de Coubertin founded the International Olympic Committee. The first edition was held in Athens in 1896 with 245 athletes. The Games are held every four years in different cities, except in 1916, 1940, and 1944 due to the world wars.
