Grdbaut (died in 1955) TEN years ago\* I published in this Journal a report on Ethiopic linguistics as of 1946.1 Since then some progress has been achieved in this field.2 The present article deals with the main studies on the various Ethiopic languages." Special bib-liographies on Ethiopic studies with reference to Ethiopic linguistics only were published by M. A. Bryan,7 C. Conti Rossini,8 I. Kraikovskij,9 Jean Simon,1o and E. Ullendorff. 11 COMPARATIVE GRAMMARS of Semitic in which Ethiopic is taken into consideration are those by J. H. Kramers12 and Padre Giovanni Rinaldi.13 Ethiopic is also mentioned in a study by A. Cuny dealing with Hamito-Semitic and Indo-European.14 SURVEYS of the Ethiopic languages with their geographic distribution and general features are given by M. A.
