This document describes a study on the stability regions of a quadrupole ion trap. The researchers used a fifth-order Runge-Kutta method to compute the twelve stability regions for different values of k between 0 and 0.9. They found that the stability parameter a remained constant but the upper limit of q decreased significantly as k increased. Their results demonstrate that higher confinement voltages are needed for quadrupole ion traps when using higher values of the modulated index parameter k.
