This study presents a novel strategy for enhancing the photocatalytic performance of pure phase ZnO by using fructose to regulate its surface structure, resulting in ZnO nanosheets with improved oxidation capabilities. The fructose-regulated ZnO nanosheets demonstrate significant efficiency in degrading high concentrations of phenol and facilitate photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. This work highlights the potential of surface modification techniques to optimize photocatalysts for environmental applications
