This study presents a gut-liver-on-a-chip (GLOC) developed by Professor Li Wang’s laboratory to investigate the transport and damage of polystyrene microplastics (MPs) in the human gut-liver axis. The GLOC mimics physiological conditions, revealing that increased intestinal peristalsis reduces the transport rate of MPs and subsequent oxidative stress in the liver. This research provides a novel platform for understanding the impacts of microplastics on human health.
