Cirilo Bautista was a Filipino poet, critic and writer who was born in 1941 and died in 2018. He received his education from the University of Santo Tomas, St. Louis University, and De La Salle University-Manila. Bautista taught creative writing and literature at St. Louis University and the University of Santo Tomas before moving to De La Salle University-Manila in 1970. He published several poetry collections and novels over his career and was conferred the National Artist of the Philippines award in 2014
