Sibiu International Theatre Festival is the largest performing arts festival in Romania and one of the most important in Europe. It began in 1993 when a group of actors from the National Theatre in Sibiu decided to present the city with a theatre festival. The festival has grown significantly over the years and now features over 2,500 guests from 70 countries performing in more than 60 venues across the city over 10 days at the beginning of summer.
