The Government of Armenia declared a State of Emergency on March 16, 2020 in response to COVID-19, closing schools and universities, prohibiting large gatherings, and restricting border crossings. On May 14, the State of Emergency was extended for 30 more days through June 13. As of May 18, many restrictions on businesses and movement have been lifted, though schools remain closed and masks are required on public transportation. Armenia has had over 5,000 confirmed cases and 64 deaths as of May 19.
