Sir Syed Ahmad Khan established the Mohammadans Anglo-Oriental schools in 1875, which evolved into a university, inspired by British education. He introduced the two-nation theory after the Urdu-Hindi controversy, asserting the distinct identities of Muslims and Hindus, which later influenced the partition of India. Additionally, he founded the Mohammadans Defence Alliance in 1886 to advocate for Muslim rights and played a crucial role in the formation of the All India Muslim League in 1906.
