This study investigates the biodegradation of used synthetic lubricating oil by the microorganism Brevundimonas diminuta AKL 1.6, isolated from contaminated seawater. The strain was identified through 16s rDNA analysis and demonstrated the ability to degrade a significant portion of hydrocarbons in the oil over a 14-day period. The findings suggest that B. diminuta AKL 1.6 has potential for bioremediation of environments contaminated with lubricating oil.
