What is Re: Yaw A. Nyame, Matthew R. Cooperberg, Marcus G. Cumberbatch, et al. Deconstructing, Addressing, and Eliminating Racial and Ethnic Inequities in Prostate Cancer Care. Eur Urol. In press. about?

We read the review by Nyame et al. with great interest. The authors presented a framework to identify prostate cancer inequities and facilitate further interventions to eradicate them. Prostate cancer is a disease with remarkably heterogeneous epidemiology statistics globally. Figure 1 in the article shows that mortality is highest in African countries and lowest in Asian countries. However, only the White population was used as the comparator across the analyses and discussion, which may hinder our understanding of inequities. The cancer outcomes observed reflect a complex relationship among genetic, social, environmental, patientrelated, and health system factors. We would like to take genetic diversity as an example. Stopsack et al. analyzed 2069 patients with prostate cancer, including 1841 selfreported White, 63 Asian, and 165 Black men. The results revealed that Black and Asian patients had similar lower PTEN alteration rates (14% vs 20% for White patients). However, some genes showed different alteration rates between Black and Asian patients. The FOXA1 alteration rate was comparable between White (13%) and Black patients, but was much higher for their Asian counterparts (27%
