What is Gender and Development in Gilgit-Baltistan about?

This dissertation explores the marginalization of women in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, within the context of state-led development and nation-state building processes. It highlights how state interests undermine economic development objectives, exacerbating gender inequalities and excluding women from the benefits of development. Through ethnographic research, the study reveals the complex interplay of local narratives, gendered experiences, and the socio-political landscape affecting women
