This document discusses the origins of the Greeks and Greek dialects. It presents four hypotheses for when the Greeks first appeared in Greece: 1) during the transition to the Neolithic, 2) between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age, 3) during Early Helladic II, III, and 4) during the transition to Late Helladic I. The author argues that the Greeks likely came from northwestern Anatolia in Early Helladic IIB and slowly spread across southern Balkans. Linguistic and archaeological evidence supports an Anatolia
