About this document

Impact of Ethanol in Chlorhexidine Mouthrinses by Flori Tabacaru is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This study compared the effectiveness of ultrasonic scaling and root planing (SRP) to hand instrumentation SRP. Both approaches were equally effective at reducing bacterial load and controlling periodontal indices over a 21-day period. All chlorhexidine preparations resulted in tooth discoloration but the inclusion of alcohol provided no additional benefits. Overall, ultrasonic and hand SRP were found to produce similar results in controlling periodontal disease when performed by experienced clinicians.
