This study analyzed temporal trends of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) including PBDD/Fs, PCDD/Fs, PBDEs, and PCBs in ringed seals from the Baltic Sea between 1974 and 2015. Results indicated that while PCDD/Fs and PCBs showed decreasing trends, PBDD/Fs did not exhibit a significant decline, and PBDEs increased until the late 1990s before decreasing. The findings highlight the complex dynamics of pollutant accumulation in marine mammals and the need for further investigation into the observed trends.
