Remote Function Calls (RFC) allow calling functions between SAP systems or between SAP and non-SAP systems. RFC consists of two interfaces for ABAP and non-SAP programs. ABAP programs call remote functions using CALL FUNCTION with a DESTINATION parameter specifying the target system. There are synchronous, asynchronous, and transactional RFC types.
