What is Enantioselective DA about?
This document describes an organocatalytic enantioselective ene reaction between cyclopentadiene and α,β-enals catalyzed by a diphenylprolinol silyl ether. Testing of various organocatalysts showed the silyl ether to be effective, providing the ene products in good yield with up to 92% enantioselectivity. The reaction was found to have good scope with various aromatic and heteroaromatic substituents on the enal. An intramolecular Diels–Alder reaction of the ene products was also demonstrated.
