What is Brotherhood and Revolution in the Philippines about?

1) Andres Bonifacio formed the secret organization called the Katipunan to fight for Philippine independence through armed revolution, as he felt the Liga was too slow and ineffective. 2) The Katipunan replaced the peaceful civic association that Jose Rizal had previously founded. 3) The Katipunan was started by Bonifacio, an illiterate warehouse worker, because the Spanish colonial system oppressed Filipinos and few could conceive of ways to fight back at the time due to high illiteracy.
