What is Brazilian Flan: Recipe & Origins about?
Flan is a popular Brazilian dessert made with eggs, sweet condensed milk, milk, sugar, and water for the caramel sauce. To make flan, sugar is melted in a pan and used to coat the bottom and sides. Then, a mixture of condensed milk, milk, eggs, and vanilla is blended and poured into the pan. It is baked in a water bath for 1.5 hours until golden brown. Flan originated in the Roman Empire where they began developing new egg-based recipes after domesticating chickens for their eggs.
