What is Overview of Key Philippine Historical Events about?

The Cavite Mutiny was a brief rebellion in 1872 by 200 Filipino troops and specialists at the Cavite arms stockpile in Cavite City, Philippines. The harsh reaction of the Spanish authorities to suppress the rebellion unintentionally promoted the growing Philippine nationalist cause. During the mutiny, Governor-General Rafael de Izquierdo seized several Filipino intellectuals and accused them of complicity, executing three priests who became martyr symbols of Philippine independence.
