What is King Lear: A Summary of the Tragedy about?

King Lear decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters, but grows angry when his honest daughter Cordelia refuses to profess exaggerated love for him. He disowns her and gives most of the kingdom to his deceitful daughters Goneril and Regan. As Lear comes to realize their true natures, he finds himself with no home or true allies except his loyal friend the Earl of Kent.
