This experiment used a simple pendulum to determine the acceleration due to gravity, g. The periods of a pendulum were measured for ten different pendulum lengths. Using the measured periods and lengths in the formula relating pendulum period and length to the acceleration due to gravity, g was calculated to be (9.79 ± 0.03) m/s2. The experiment was repeated to obtain two data sets and reduce errors.
