This patent describes a tear gas grenade designed to rapidly disseminate tear gas with safety. The grenade contains a canister with gas emission holes. Inside is a tubular charge pellet with inner and outer combustion surfaces. Igniter tubes contact the inner and outer surfaces to ignite the pellet from both sides. Igniter washers on the pellet ends allow ignition to spread. When ignited, the pellet rapidly evolves gas from its surfaces and holes, disseminating the tear gas quickly while avoiding injury.
