The Association of Proprietors of Innovation and Vocational Institutions has dragged the National Board for Technical Education to court to compel the Board to issue a circular changing the nomenclature of certificates from National Innovation Diploma to National Diploma, as decided by the 59th National Council on Education in 2013. The Federal Ministry of Education had previously directed NBTE to comply but the Board refused. While most proprietors have adopted the new terms, NBTE insists on the old ones.
