What is LOPLE: a dynamic library of programming language examples about?
A computer-based library of dynamic examples of programming language concepts has been developed. The purpose of the library is to maintain a file of examples for use in teaching programming. Examples from this library may be displayed by students on cathode ray tube (crt) computer terminals in their static form. Then, under student control the actions and results of executing the displayed code are presented In a dynamic step by step fashion: current line of execution, changing variable contents, and conditions causing branches are all indicated, clearly demonstrating the desired concepts. Students may interactively search for appropriate examples to view. Instructors are allowed easy access to the library for the purpose of adding and deleting examples. Additionally, students with hearing impairments or mobility impairments should be well-served by the system.
