This report examines the effect of adding 2% of seven aromatic amines to aviation gasoline on engine performance. The most effective additives were found to be N-methyl-α-ethylaniline, N-methyl-p-ethylaniline, and N-methyl-p-isopropylaniline. Other amines that showed promise as additives were N-methyl-2,4-xylidine, N-methyl-o-toluidine, and 2,4,6-trimethylaniline.
