The survey found that as of December 2022, there were 69 pediatric patients across 36 hospitals and facilities waiting for discharge and requiring state agency services. 57 of these patients were involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Of the DCF-involved patients, 28 were waiting in emergency departments, 21 in inpatient psychiatric units, and 8 in medical surgical units. The majority were non-Hispanic and white.
