About this document
Understanding the M7 Diode Characteristics by Jai Ho is a document available to read on EtoBox.
An M7 diode is a surface mount version of a 1N4007 diode commonly used in Asia. It can handle currents up to 1A and voltages up to 1000V. For the purpose of providing reverse polarity protection on a circuit board, a 50V rated diode would be sufficient and there is no need for the higher 1000V rating of the M7 diode. The M7 diode has a reverse recovery time of around 1.5 microseconds, making it faster than a standard 1N4007 diode but still not very fast.
